Advice on re-upholstery sought?

I am re-upholstering a footstool in fake leather over a foam base and would appreciate responses with regards how much tension I should apply as I staple down the fabric, thanks.

hi marky,

i am by no means an expert, but i’ve had lots of experience reupholstering pieces on my own. i would just tack it down and then sit on it and notice how much pull is going around the nails or tacks ie is it tearing or stretching?

it should be firm but not taught or baggy.

the first time could be learning curve.

Pull firmly but not to tuck or pucker. Make sure you tack evenly.

Imagine you are wrapping a parcel. That will make the job easier. IE start top then bottom then left side then right side then in the betweens
