Melamine foam? That’s a neat trick. Are we making cabinets and shelving out of foam now? Sure would make them easier to transport and install!!
Polyurethane foam is a very good sound insulator, because of its closed cell nature. But make sure you are using polyurethane (the pink or blue stuff) and not polystyrene (the white stuff that crumbles easily). In fact, you can seal the joints in the poly sheets with the foam insulation that comes in a can and have a really soundproof environment. However, if you are considering starting up a punk rock band in your garage, please be considerate of your neighbors.
