I have two options: buying close cell, fire resistant, R-7 per inch, 3 lb density foam for $12 per cubic ft. OR buying open cell, fire resistant, R-3.7 per inch, 0.75 density foam for $6.80 per cubic ft.
SO, I would like your educated opinion on what should I buy. Thank you.
P.S. I’m using foam with combination with fiberglass, just what to seal all small gaps to air proof. I do understand difference between open and closed cell
Closed cell foam is air tight. Imagine thousands of little balls (each sealed with air inside) compressed together. Open cell foam is more porous. More like a sponge. I personally prefer closed cell foam.

Hey i am wanting to make a rc weedeater powered double hull style rc boat about .75 meters long , a guy at my school has made one for a tech project but has left and i wanted to make the same thing, what i need to know is how should i shape the fibreglass into a hull and get it even, i was thinking of doing it with atype of polystyrene because after i have finished i can just dissolve the polystyrene and have a hollow hull but the foam is too coarse to mould into a even shape and i was wondering if anyone had come across a higher density foam or another method. thanks
and also if anyone knows of any websites with instructions on this could you please list them .
thanks
I started on making one i got the fiberglass ready but i dont have the rc techno. first you make the skeloton from cardboard.

I experimented at home and found out how to make the drink but I have no idea how to make the pineapple foam that goes on top.
You could give this a try:~~~~~~~~~~ For the pineapple foam: In food processor fitted with metal blade, puree pineapple until smooth. Transfer to bowl and stir in lecithin. Using hand-held immersion blender, blend until very frothy.

Big problem! I REALLY need to clean the seats of my car, but a detailing place who will steam clean would be very pricey. Things have spilled recently, like milk (yikes!) and tea, and my puppy is an added factor. The car has an odd smell, and the seats have water marks on them. I don’t want to scrub with just an upholstery foam cleaner & brush, I need a deep cleaning. I purchased a hand wet vac, but my question is: What is the best method to clean these seats using a wet vac? What solution or product should I use? How wet should I get the seats before vacuuming the soap & water out of them? Is there something I need to be aware of (such as, is it not a good idea to wet vac the seats in the first place)?
I have all kinds of cleaners (resolve, bissell, etc) that I use on my house carpet due to the puppy. I have two wet vacs (a 9.6v and a 12v), and also some Febreeze for Auto (just to keep it smelling fresh afterwards) I just need some advice on how to do this effectively and get them CLEAN, free of odor and random markings. I’ll be cleaning the floor carpet and floor mats as well, if you have any tips for those.
Please help! I want to do the best job possible and do it correctly, I just need some tips or "do’s" and "do not’s" .
Thanks!!!

the instructions aren’t very clear. but there is the actual foam. the cover slip thing. and then there is like a sheet that the foam was wrapped in when i first opened it. is this part of the packaging or do i need to keep it. I’m not sure because in the instructions it says, "it may take up to 72 for the topper to fully expand and recover to its original shape" i don’t think there are talking about the foam because the foam is already in its right shape expanded and all. so i assume they are talking about that thin sheet thing? if anyone remembers setting up there memory foam mattress and also had this please could you tell me what you did with it?
You keep the fabric cover to protect the foam. What is the other cover made of? I suspect you remove it and the foam will expand to fit the fabric cover. It has been a really long time, but I think I removed anything that wasn’t the fabric cover. You might want to keep the other cover somewhere to protect the mattress when you move the bed.

I work in my underwear in my home office and my chair now reeks. I pass gas sometimes in the morning when I sit in my office. I am seriously looking for a safe and effective way to get the smell out of the memory foam. PLEASE – only serious responses!
Serious responses, that is almost as funny as the question. LOL
I think you need to clean with a disinfectant and put the chair outside so it can air out, for goodness sakes please put on pants and the pillow idea is great too. For someone with a farting problem, you should do all 4 suggestions.

You know that stuff that’s used for packaging heavier electronics, like televisions.? It’s a type of lightweight foam that’s similar to styrofoam, but harder, and somewhat transparent instead of milky white? I need to buy some for a craft project, but I don’t know what it’s called. Can anyone help?
I’m not sure I’ve seen anything like that, or maybe a better description of size/shape would help.
Usually it is the "expanded polystyrene foam" that’s used in packaging for large/heavy electronics, and there is an "extruded" version which is denser, stronger and heavier (that can be purchased in thick sheets at home improvement or hardware stores).
But I don’t know of a *foam* that’s actually translucent or transparent …at least nothing’s coming to mind.
P.S. If you said exactly what kind of material you need and what it is you’re making (and its size/shape), someone may have a good idea of what you could use.

I dropped a pint of beer on my memory foam mattress, and am wondering how i can clean it.
Any ideas.?
Cheers.
If you can get it to a shower or tub…put the part that has the beer and run soap and water through it…running water through it will remove the beer …..Hanging it up to dry……If you can put it outside and run a water hose over it and remove the beer that way would help …the sun can dry it out
