why do some clothes detergents foam up more than others? and does the foam mean it does a better job?
i remember my mom saying that if it foams up it is doing it’s job at cleaning the clothes, most detergents nowadays do not foam up as much as they did back then.
Too much foam is too much soap. Laundry detergent and Dishwasher detergent are made to be low sudsing because the suds don’t break down easily and can also cause the waterpump to cavatate—stop pumping due to air from the suds.
My babysitter put dawn soap in the dishwasher, foamed out all over the place!
The foam isn’t an indicator as to if it’s a good detergent or not. Too many suds is a sign that you used too much soap. You don’t want it overflowing with suds, but you also don’t want it so you don’t have any suds.

The chemical that makes the foam is added to make you think it,s cleaning. The amount of foam has nothing to do with how well the detergent working
