What kind of railings work better for a memory foam mattress, metal railings or a platform bed?

I’m buying a new memory foam mattress for my new apartment, but I don’t know which railings I should get. I love the look of a platform bed but metal railings are cheaper. Which works best for the mattress?

go with the platform. the rails won’t support the memory mattress well enough; it’s too heavy and the center will sag over time.
