What do you put a foam mattress on top of?

I’m getting a foam mattress and I don’t just want to put it directly on the floor obviously. What do i put it on?

You cannot put it on a box spring. It must be a flat foundation, not a box spring which flexes. You could put it on the floor. However, if you want it off the floor, you must have a platform bed(which has total flat surface). Also,you could use 1×4" slats no more than 3" in gap between them across frame, maybe need 12 slats for length of 80" mattress. Then you need to use minimum of 3/4" piece of plywood the size of the mattress on the slats under the mattress.

    You can put it on a set of box springs. you can put it on a bunky board. You can put it on a piece of plywood. You can put it on a bed platform. Furniture stores sell stuff for that situation, or you can make it yourself.
