Can anyone roll over comfortably on memory foam mattress?

I cannot sleep well on my memory foam mattress because every time I want to roll over, I wake myself up because of the effort required to do so (the quick sand effect is very strong). Has anyone else had a similar experience and/or has found something that may help? Thanks.

Might try flipping the mattress over and sleeping on the "support foam" side. Memory foam "conforms" . . latex or HD36 polyurethane has more "push back".

Yeah those things are only good for stationary sleepers cuz it takes like 5 seconds for the foam to adjust to your body again… so it feels like your rolling on to this hard dried up sponge..

I never looked at it like that. Interesting. The "quicksand effect". I have a memory foam in my travel trailer bed and it is to die for. I sleep so well with it. I never imagined it as uncomfortable.

    Hi girlopeg,

It sounds like the memory foam you are using has a very slow recovery rate, and that is common problem with some memory foam, though not all..

There are many memory foam makers in the US, and many more Internationally. Each foam company makes a foam that’s a little different; and every foamer’s product changes a little with each batch and over time as they change their formula and process.

So there is good memory foam and bad. I’ve tested memory foam from many different sources. This slow recovery thing is definitely a problem. However I’ve also found a few good companies that make a foam with a very quick recovery rate. I sleep on these personally because, like you, I hate that "stuck in a pit" feeling. Everyone does.

You can try a waterproof mattress protector or a regular mattress pad. It will make the foam a little firmer and prevent you from sinking down as far into the pit. Then rolling over will be a little easier.

Hope that helps. If not, then you might need to try another memory foam bed, with better foam and a faster recovery rate.
