How do I insulate the roof of metal canopy double carport to get rid of condensation?

The bottom of the metal roof of my canopy carport has condensation on it in the mornings. How can I insulate the bottom side. A friend recommened to use close cell foam insulation that is sprayed on but it is expensive.

it maybe expenisve but will insulate well and not allow condidsation from rotting it out. better to do it once and do it right first time round

    If your carport is painted on the underside, all that is necessary is to keep the paint in good condition. A place to watch is where the supports touch the metal cover. Debris and dirt can begin the process of rusting. Keep it clean. Waxing the underside will help alot….like waxing protects your car. It can also give benefit to the top. I wax the top of my outside metal storage building. It’s in hot summer sun all summer.

    If the roof is flat have you thought about polystyrene tiles, I even know one person who went as far as to break up loads of ald polystyrene packaging and with an abundance a pva glued it the roof. Or how about bubblewrap. you can get it in really long roles from office suppliers, quite how you would attach it I’m not sure.

    carport is aluminum, by the time that rots away – you’ll be long gone… I have a carport of the 1960′s thats still out there, its pot marked and such, but still there and still doing its job

    If it is a pan style roof they make rigid foam that fits inside the roof and "cover sheets to go over top of the foam.

    Don’t insulate the underside of the roof as it’ll hold moisture in contact with the metal. Any home supply will have a rubberized ‘mobile home’ paint that can be applied to the topside of the metal to insulate the roof and also prevent rainwater etc. getting through to the underside and it *will* help with condensation on the underside!
