How do you get sticky foam protection stickers off computer speakers?

November 28, 2009 - 11:56 am 3 Comments

I went to a garage sale and bought a set of computer speakers strapped together for 2$. When I got home and took off the rubber band, I found out that they had once put on protection stickers made out of foam/paper rubber(that you can rip). Most of it was ripped of but it left some of it. To be exact, if you rip it by hand, it comes off but only half of the layer. It looks like a cat had a great time scratching off the top layer! Wetting it with rubbing alcohol and then scratching with my nail takes too long! I need it to be removed because it looks awfully bad! Please help me! I’m not going to use it until I give up finding ways!

Goo-Gone. You can get it at target.

couch cleaning?

November 28, 2009 - 11:56 am 2 Comments

What is a good upholstery cleaner for couches? The couches are white and made out of polyester fiber on the outside and polyurethane foam on the inside.
And where I can buy it or get more information on it?

Alternatively, where is a reasonable place that I can get them cleaned professionally in the San Francisco Bay Area? I don’t want to spend to much. Probably less than $100, but only if they will do a really good job.

Thanks!

Choosing a new sofa for your living space is an important process. The sofa not only will become a focal point of its room, requiring a good choice in color and style, but will also be used more than almost any other piece of furniture in the home and must therefore be made of a quality commensurate with its expected use. Many different considerations should be taken into account when choosing a sofa, including color, design, style and materials.

Im trying to find a company in Manchester that does foam sponge cut to size for plumping up my sagging sofa.?

November 28, 2009 - 11:56 am 2 Comments

Ive been on the net and got quotes for outside manchester, but the prices are to steep for two cushion sponges, so I need somewhere I can collect, and is a bit lower in price Thanks.

Look for a Hancocks fabrics or Joann’s Fabrics. They both carry the foam for sofa cushions and will cut it to fit if you bring in the measurements.

Looking for a new mattress with the memory foam. Which is the best brand to look at that is reasonibly priced?

I bought one 2 years ago paid over 1000.00 and I hated it after 1 1/2 yrs.
the foam breaks down and settles to your shape and then gives no support.. I went back to my old bed till i can afford a new spring mattress. They will not warranty it until it settles 1 in. down… I would buy a 750+ spring count mattress if it were me.. Sorry

Can I use Rival bag gloves for training?

Here’s the link: http://www.rivalboxing.com/e/rb40-e.html

So, can I use it for training. I read that bag gloves don’t have much protection, but those gloves look like they do and the description says High-Density multi-layered foam padding for added comfort

Yes you can use the, I do….

I need to get recaro seats rebuilt, I’m looking for the foam and cloth to get it done?

November 28, 2009 - 11:55 am 1 Comment

I have a set of recaro seats out of a police package lumina
anyways they are just plain warn out
where can I get new foam and cloth to rebuild them?
they don’t have to look exactly the same since they are now in a different car, but they will need to be blue–I may be willing to switch to black if I have to
of course $$ is an issue :)
Thanks

See if Recaro has a website, and maybe you can order the stuff from them.

Does anyone know where I visit in Toronto in particular where I can pick up AB polyurethane expanding foam?

What is the difference between foam insulation and a radiant barrier, and which is more effective?

November 23, 2009 - 8:03 pm 2 Comments

I just bought a house with NO attic ventilation at all, and was wondering which direction to go: installing turbine vents, having a radiant barrier installed, or having foam insulation put in. Which would keep the attic the coolest and keep my electric bill the lowest? I have absolutely no shade on the house, and my attic gets hotter than an attic usually is normally. Thanks for the help.

Great questions. If you have absolutely no ventilation, you really need to have that fixed first. Ventilation keeps your attic cooler but also keeps it from holding moisture. Moisture will greatly lower the effectiveness of the regular insulation in your attic.

Next, look at the radiant barrier. It does not slow down and store heat like foam or other thick insulation’s, it simply does not allow heat to radiate off of itself. Foam will slow down the heat transfer and store it in the attic for awhile after the sun sets and the roof begins to cool. It also typically costs about three times more then a radiant barrier and does not provide the same savings in most cases.

The insulation on the floor of the attic also needs to be increased to the department of energy recommendations. Typically, an R-49 in the Dallas TX area which is where I live.

With what you have described, I would say that your priorities need to be the ventilation first and then radiant barrier and insulation.
