How do I liquid foam insulate a pressurized wall that’s already been put up? Can I drill holes and inject?

October 28, 2009 - 3:08 am 2 Comments

I have a 15 foot wall that was recently put up (pressurized/temp wall) and unfortunately there was no insulation put in the wall. I’m trying now to rectify the situation with some liquid foam insulation or another method. How would I do this? Thanks.

If you inject the liquid foam into the wall, stand away from it because you will blow the whole wall out. Then you can clean up the mess and rebuild the wall putting insulation in it this time.

There is a light weight particle insulation that can be poured into the wall through a few holes near the top, then patch the holes. See your local building supplies store.

Boat Upholstery?

October 28, 2009 - 3:08 am 5 Comments

I want to re upholster my boat seats. The old seats had some kind of thin clear plastic material over the foam. I need to know what this was, were to buy some and how I should use it. I assume it was to protect the foam from water saturation. I am kind of thinking that it should go on top of the foam but be open at the bottom for ventilation if moisture should happen to get to the foam anyway.

I used Glad bags in my boat, works great!

Where can I get foam cut to size in Lancaster?

…or Morecame!

Actually it’s easy to cut foam if you have an electric carving knife…that’s what upholstery shops use.

How can I clean cat pee out of a memory foam mattress?

October 28, 2009 - 3:08 am 9 Comments

My cat just peed on my memory foam mattress. I can wash the comforter but I cant put the memory foam in the washer.
What do I do? I think it’s gone through the foam. It was over 300 dollars for the mattress so I cant just throw it away.
What do I do to clean it and remove the odor?

One of the most effective formulas I´ve found for removing ANY odor was from Popular Science Magazine.
Mix 1 quart of Hydrogen Peroxide, with 1/4 cup of Baking Soda, and one tablespoon of liquid dishwashing soap. Saturate the affected area, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and the smell is gone. This is non-toxic and safe for your animals and children, and those with allergies. This is especially helpful for removing skunk odor from your outdoor animals.
As always, test a small portion of fabric for color fastness, before treating a large area.

There are many home remedies for treating pet stains and odors, and let me stress that most of them are not too bad as far as removing odors for humans´ noses.
Vinegar, amonia, baking soda, laundry detergents, lemon juice, fabric softeners, and commercial strength pet stain removers are all great for removing the odors that humans can smell.
HOWEVER; you will need more to remove the odor for your cat´s nose. An enzymatic cleaner is the best answer, but it is slow and may take more than one application. (Nature´s Miracle is one of them.)
The Hydrogen Peroxide/Baking Soda combo is fast, but can alter the colors of some fabrics.
In the end, you must decide which application is best for your situation.

To remove the smell of urine from just about anything, first clean it with some sort of soap or kitchen cleaner. Then clean it with lemon juice. If you dont like the smell of lemon juice follow it up with a little bit of vanilla extract.

Where Can I Buy Sheets of Foam?

October 28, 2009 - 3:08 am 3 Comments

I need some for my science fair project. One site send to get a camp pad at Walmart but its too big. I only need about 24" x 18". Can anyone name an inexpensive closed cell foam sheet and where? It needs to be something I can get at Walmart, Target, Lowes, or some other common store? (I live in the middle of nowhere so I can’t go to any specialty stores. The nearest mall is about a half hour away.)
Emphasis on NAME of product.

name of product would be = craft foam
you should be able to get it at any store with a craft department or hardward/home improvement store

Sleep number type mattress with air chambers?

October 28, 2009 - 3:08 am 2 Comments

Would anybody like to share experiences with one of those sleep number type mattresses? The description says there are two air chambers inside the mattress, of which you can adjust the firmness by remote controls. There is also a 3" thick layer of high density memory foam at the top.

I just bought one and recieved it yesterday so I have no real opinion yet, but I bought it through QVC. While I was shopping with them they had a lot of customer reviews. I found a couple of them that had complaigned about the center strip, but then there were many who contradicted these complaints. I would suggest you check it out there. The one thing for sure that no one really liked are the legs you can buy to support the bed, they apparently do not offer enough strength and the bed sags. I am building a simple box out of 2×6 lumber and 2×4 braces to support mine.
