how do i speed of the foam settling in a beer bong?

September 29, 2009 - 10:18 pm 7 Comments

I made a 5 foot beer bong with a valve that can hold about 4-5 beers. I dont have a problem with foam there.

But when i load up one, almost the half top of the tubing is filled with foam. I understand that foaming is normal, but I want that foam to turn into beer because every drop counts :) .

I’ve heard about people using a pinch of salt to kill the foam, but i dont want to mess with the taste what so ever.

any thing i can do to speed up the foam condensing process?

The answer to your question is simple, don’t create the foam, therefor you won’t have to speed the settling. Pour slowly, remember it’s the speed of the drink, not the pour that makes a successful Beer Bong!

Looking for manufacturer of quality chairs and sofas?

I find the foam in furniture is useless after a year or so. I am looking for a manufacturer of quality furniture using tradition upholstery methods not foam. Can anybody recommend such a company

Hi there. Have you considered La-Z-Boy? I work with the company and can vouch that we have comfortable furniture! We pride ourselves on comfort and quality, and we also just introduced a new line of eco-friendly furniture called EcoComfort (http://www.la-z-boy.com/ecocomfort) that features soy-based foam cushions. We have Furniture Galleries stores all over the country where you can go give recliners a sit test to see which one suits your lifestyle best! Our dealer locator is here: http://www.la-z-boy.com/contactus/find_a_dealer.aspx. Hope you find something that works for you!

Also, thanks for the recommendation kuppkake! We are glad that you have been enjoying your La-Z-Boy furniture!

What is the best way to cut foam?

September 29, 2009 - 10:18 pm 5 Comments

I need to cut the foam down in a bench seat so its not so thick, its about two and a half foot wide. Kinda big for the elictric knife is there another way to do this? Would a hot wire work?

Use the electric knife, mount/ clamp it horizontally to a flat surface, at the height/thickness you desire, and as you cut, one section will go under the blade the other (top) you can peel back as the cut progresses. the problem(s) with the hot wire, 1. you will not be able to keep it uniformly hot enough to cut , then as it cools, it will stick to the foam. 2.As it melts the foam, the foam will have hard melted spots rather than clean cuts. 3. The fumes created WILL be toxic. 4. You can very easily start a fire that WILL NOT be easy to put out. If you go completely around the perimeter that should leave very little to "freehand" in the center section

Is the memory foam just as good as a brand new mattress?

September 29, 2009 - 10:18 pm 3 Comments

I am in desperate need of a new mattress, but unfortunately can not afford a quality mattress at this time. Would a memory foam mattress pad be the best option at this point? Can anyone recommend a decent one as well? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Memory foam helps you sleep great. I have a memory foam pillow and that has improved the quality of my sleep. ;) try these:

the target and kohls are better in my opinion..of course you should read about it and see which one suits you best…but they will improve the quality of your sleep dramatically! good luck. ;)

Anyone know a source for closed cell foam…?

September 29, 2009 - 10:18 pm 2 Comments

…approximately 1/4" x 24" x 48", flat or rolled, in the US. Any national chain stores, or internet source? Southern California, maybe??

In searches, I find thicker, or I find some version of "formed", but not just plain flat panels.

It doesnt have to be high quality. It is to be used for creating costumes, and props, not anything strenuous.
Hi ptnopt. I have thought about the sleeping mats, but they are generally 1/2"-3/4" thick. I was hoping for something thinner. I am hoping I dont have to slice and dice one too much. Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you have a Big 5 sporting goods store or any other sporting goods store. That’s where I find it.

HELP!!! Where can I find high density foam???

September 29, 2009 - 10:18 pm 5 Comments

I am making a doggie ramp and need a huge chunk of HD foam. All I’ve found so far is only a couple inches thick at Hobby Lobby.
Where do I go? Hardware wtore? Craft store? Manufacturer? (if so, who?)

Thanks!

There are different types of foam. HDU is a very firm , tightly packed type of "stryfoam" for lack of a better description. It is used for sandblasted signs. If that is what you are looking for..be prepared. ITS EXPENSIVE. You might be better off glueing the foam panels from Home Depot together. If you want the sign foam, look up sign suppliers. Compare prices, as shipping can be high, its heavy. A local sign shop may have scraps (still expensive, we tend to save every scap because of its price) Hope that helps.

What is this called? Colorful rubber/foam squares that fit together into a rug/mat?

September 29, 2009 - 10:18 pm 4 Comments

I need them, but I don’t know what they’re called, so I can’t find them! I’ll try to explain what they look like.

Square, about 2ft by 2ft.
Colorful, sometimes with pictures or ABCs or something like that.
Edges are like this: _I¯I_I¯I_I¯I_I¯I_ so they can fit together.
Made of rubber or foam-like substance.
You use them to make a rug/mat on the floor.
Sometimes used in kindergarten classrooms.

Where would be a good place to buy them?

Actually, Home Depot stopped caryying these about 2 years ago. Try Lowes.. They usually just call them Children’s Flooring.

How do you remove cork tiles with foam stickies?

September 29, 2009 - 10:18 pm 1 Comment

I hung 12in by 12in cork tiles in my room with the foam stickies that came with the package. I just removed the tiles and tried to scrape the stickies off but they’re stuck! Is there a product that could help loose the adhesive?

The foam stickes are about 2 cm by 2cm and they’re stuck to drywall.

I’ll bet lots of people will suggest "Goo Gone" but old fashioned lighter fluid will work better, and it will be cheaper too. If you have one, use an old credit card as a scraper.

Has any air-conditioning contractors done a house with polyurethane foam?

September 29, 2009 - 10:18 pm 1 Comment

I have a builder that is building a house that has spray foam in the walls and on the roof. I talked to the insulator and he said a rule of thumb is to use 1000 sq ft per ton, I can’t use just a rule of thumb in need something solid. Does anybody know where to get info on how to run a load with this stuff? The newest edition of Manual J I have doesn’t have anything in there about it. He can’t give me any R-values on any of this because he says the values will be to low and it will look like I need to take out more BTUH. How am I supposed to do a job when I can’t find any info about it.

Where can you buy foam that can be cut to custom fit to put mechanical or specific parts in a case or drawer?

I want maybe polyethylene or polyurethane.
